Sauna- I love it!

Yesterday I was in sauna. Since these day I have been the biggest fan of Finnish

sauna. It is's really relaxing and invigorating. After one

hour in these place I felt so good. I have chance to go to sauna twice a week because it is near my flat. I love it!

The sauna is an important part of the national identityand those who have the opportunity usually take a sauna at least once a week. The traditional sauna day is Saturday. Taking a sauna begins by sitting in the hot room, typically warmed to 60-100 degrees Celsius for some time. Water is thrown on the hot stones topping the kiuas, a special stove used to warm up the sauna. This produces steam. When the heat begins to feel uncomfortable it is customary to jump into a lake, sea, or a swimming pool, or to have a shower. In the winter rolling in the snow or even swimming in a hole cut in the ice. After cooling one goes back to the hot room and begins the cycle again. For many Finns, the sauna is almost a sacred place.

Printmaking today

Today we made some screen- prints. During last week we prepared sketches and projects. Screen is made of a piece of porous, finely woven fabric called mesh stretched over a frame of aluminum. Areas of the screen are blocked off with a non-permeable material to form a stencil, which is a negative of the image to be printed; that is, the open spaces are where the ink will appear. Here, in Finland we can use another type of paint. We don't use water but special medium and we can also put something like carbon into paints.

Quiet Sunday

There are not too many people anywhere in Finland. Finns dont't want to live too denseley, and they appreciate other people's space. Today Ihave been walking and I saw only few people. Here is so quiet. I still didn't find enough words to describe this country. I am happy because I can discover Finland in every day.

Finland

During I have been living here, I understand the feeling that nobody speak your language and dont know what you talking about with your friend. That have good and bad sides- but generaly it is annoying. So at these moment I will try to write all posts in English language.

Finnish exchange is a enormous challenge. Let's try it.

Serigrafia po fińsku

Za mną tydzień pracy w fińskiej pracowni. Niby wszystko podobne,

ale i tak musiałam nauczyć się wielu rzeczy, po fińsku i angielsku. System pracy jest bardzo dogodny- studenci mogą przebywać w pracowni tak długojak chcą, nawet w

weekendy. Każdy ma swoje miejsce do pracy. Jest też mała kuchnia i wygodne kanapy.
Zajęcia prowadzone są w formie kursów, teraz np. odbywa się kurs serigrafii. Można także wykonywać prace technice, jak najbardziej odpowiada studentowi. Tak więc możliwości jest wiele.

Imatra

Imatra - miasto i gmina w południowo-wschodniej Finlandii, w prowincji Finlandia Południowa, nad rzeką Vouksi, w pobliżu południowo-wschodniego brzegu jeziora Saimaa i granicy z Rosją.

Ośrodek przemysłowy (przemysł celulozowo-papierniczy, chemiczny, spożywczy) oraz hutnictwa żelaza. Tak przynajmniej Wikipedia opisuje to miasto. Dla mnie jest jeszcze nie zbadane. Jedno jest pewne- jest tu bardzo wiele miejsc wartych obejrzenia, miejsc które zaskakują i zadziwiają. Tak jak naprzykład ten oświetlony most, rzeka, ścieżka przy rzece, tama. Finlandia to prawdziwy raj dla rowerzystów i spacerowiczów. Ścieżki są zadbane, szerokie- i jest ich bardzo dużo. Nie wspominałam także o przyjażnie nastawionych kierowcach samochodów- zawsze przepuszczają;) Cóż, nic tylko oglądać dalej

Pracownia grafiki

Dzisiaj pierwszy raz byłam na wydziale grafiki. widoczne jest duże podobieństwo do pracowni toruński, prawie te same techniki- litografia, metal, linoryt, sitodruk, monotypia. Studenci w pracowni mogą przebywać tak długo jak chcą.
